Welcome to the first installment of our Customer Spotlights. In this series we hope to illustrate some of the ways that our customers are using Bolt which might spur some innovation for other existing or future Bolt users.
We are starting our Spotlight with our good friends Decentral Games. They currently use Bolt as a reward mechanism for some of their most loyal asset holders. While their use case might be simplistic, it’s also very impactful.
What is Decentral Games ICE Poker?
ICE Poker is a metaverse based poker game where you can earn $ICE tokens and wearable skins by completing daily challenges or competing in tournaments. Originally the game was launched in the Decentraland metaverse and later ICE Poker Flex was launched which can be played on any device browser, anywhere, anytime.
In order to play ICE Poker a player needs to have an ICE wearable. The wearables are digital clothes that can be used to customize your metaverse avatar. A can player can either purchase a wearable or rent one from another owner.
ICE Poker is community owned:
ICE Poker is owned and managed by the Decentral Games DAO, a collective of community members striving towards the shared mission of onboarding millions of users into the Metaverse.
Community members can purchase the governance token ($DG) to help shape the future of ICE Poker by proposing and voting on new game features, game setting adjustments, and a wide range of other key decisions.

How Decentral Games Utilizes Loot Bolt
Decentral Games leverages Bolt to incentivize participation once a week during their exclusive gaming night. They hold weekly bounties for their “Diamond Hand Thursday” poker nights which is in Diamond Hand City, their exclusive venue in Decentraland for owners of a ranked 5 ICE wearable.
Example Bounties:
1. Raffle

The first person to post a screenshot of them losing with quads or better. If no one claims this bounty, the xDG prize will progress to next week’s bounty. To qualify, at least one hole card must be included from the losing hand.
(This bounty currently sits at 4,500 xDG. It initially began at 1,000 xDG and has increased 250 xDG, each week the bounty goes unclaimed.)
Decentral Games also utilizes Bolt for ICE Poker Flex by having players share screenshots of them playing to enter raffles
To learn more, Decentral Games posted a fantastic Twitter thread in October explaining LootBolt and how they are using it:
Bolt Numbers for Decentral Games Bounties
Decentral Games has paid out 58,760 (Roughly $2,027.22 xDG in rewards with a potential of 98,250 (Roughly $3,389.63) xDG in rewards since beginning to use LootBolt at the beginning of September. (USD Values vary based on token price)
Each bounty has an average of 22-30 entries per raffle. (These bounties are gated to only the top collectors in the ecosystem.)
Conclusion
There are a couple interesting components to Decentral Games’ approach to using LootBolt which I want to quickly highlight:
Encouraging Collectors & Progression
These weekly bounties are only available to players that have acquired a High Roller ICE Accessory. To get a High Roller accessory, a player must obtain five ranked 5 wearables from the same collection. This means that acquiring the High Roller role requires a substantial investment or a lot of time dedicated to playing the game and upgrading your wearables. These weekly bounties act as a form of utility for the high end collectors/players
Rewarding Their Biggest Fans
As stated above, the top few % of the players can access these weekly bounties. While playing ICE Poker a player can earn the $ICE token but these bounties give players an opportunity to earn xDG (the staked version of the governance token). Not only do players have a chance to “double dip” on their earnings while playing but they can also earn ownership in a player-owned game.
Not only are players incentivized to collect more, upgrade more, and play more…they are also rewarded with a voice in governance that should help build loyal community members.
